About
Built for the Underground
Mission
Resilient Knowledge Infrastructure
Cactus Forum was born in 2026 from a simple observation: the most important conversations in AI and systems engineering happen in fragmented, fragile channels. Centralized platforms fail. Corporate forums surveil. Academic networks gatekeep.
We built the cactus mesh — a decentralized forum protocol where threads replicate across edge nodes, discussions are end-to-end encrypted, and communities survive regardless of what happens to any single server.
Timeline
Network Evolution
Genesis
Cactus Forum launched from a desert edge compute cluster in Arizona. First 200 nodes connected to the mesh.
Mesh Protocol v2
Released encrypted thread replication protocol. Offline-first sync enables communities in bandwidth-constrained environments.
Global Expansion
Crossed 5,000 active nodes across 40 countries. AI Systems and Security clusters become the largest knowledge branches.
Cactus CLI v2
Open-source CLI for mesh deployment. Any engineer can spin up a relay node in under 5 minutes.
